She is limping on her back leg and not able to get up to walk much at all.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long has the dog been lethargic? Any changes in her appetite?
Customer: No not really. She is almost 15 years old
JA: Could she have eaten something unusual?
Customer: No A few months ago the vet noticed she was in pain and gave her some medicine. But it's gotten worse since then
JA: What's the dog's name?
Customer: Sugar
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: I don't think so

I am sorry to hear that Sugar is having trouble with her leg.  Can you tell me what breed of dog she is?

Aw this poor old girl - it sounds like her leg has been bothering her for a couple of months - can you tell me what medications you have tried?

About four months ago, I noticed her back was arched and she was limping some. More recently, she has been holding up her back right leg. Yesterday, she started not even being able to get up from standing.

Ok; as a single agent, gabapentin is not a great pain medication.  It works best when used in combination with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID - something like Rimadyl, Metacam, Galliprant, etc).  Because it sounds like gabapentin is not doing a good job controlling Sugar's pain, I would ask your vet about using it in combination with one of these NSAIDs.  Your vet may recommend running some bloodwork prior to starting her on an NSAID to make sure that her liver and kidneys are healthy, and I would suggest you get this done just to make sure we aren't causing more issues with the meds.  But combination drugs for arthritis are often quite a bit more successful than single agent medicaitons.

Oh good!  In that case of course, the labs may not be necessary.
