My flat is being emptied of its contents by government types in about a week with no offer of compensation being full of about a dozen expensive instruments and recording industry technology and high quality clothes and books and computers. Is it legal for them to do it?

Did they have a warrant for seizure of the items?

You still seem to be away. Whether or not they can do what they are doing depends on if they have a valid search warrant. A valid search warrant should be shown to you upon request and any items they seize should be inventoried for you to be able to later have them returned.

First things first, figure out under what grounds they are taking and emptying your place. Ask to see if they have warrant. A valid warrant must be signed by a judge and describe the probable cause (reason they are searching and taking things from you.

If you need a lawyer:

Criminal Defense or Civil Litigation against the agency is what I would search.
