I am sorry to hear about Bruno's problem, I know that you must be very concerned. Hopefully, we can get this resolved quickly.

1. I would not normally worry about the number of scallions that you described, in my experience, this will be very unlikely to have affected your dog in any adverse way. Bruno should be just fine.

2. You see the situation is that while it is true that onion { scallions } can be toxic to dogs due to sulfate poisoning I am glad to say that it actually takes quite a lot of onion { or scallions} to be toxic to dogs,

3. But here are the numbers: If a dog eats 100 grams of onion ( Which is about the size of a medium onion ) per 20 kilograms of a dog's weight then this can cause toxic effects. This means that a 45-pound dog would only have to eat one medium-to-large-size onion to experience dangerous toxicity levels.

But having read the above, if you still want to be 100% safe then you may decide to induce vomiting and recover the onion. In case you want to go down this route, I will give you a link on how this is done best. To be effective this has to be carried out within one hour after ingestion { Two hours at the very outside.} : https://www.petplace.com/article/dogs/diseases-conditions-of-dogs/how-to-induce-vomiting-emesis-in-dogs/

4. But in any case, I should be available online for you for the next four or five hours today so please do not hesitate to get straight back to me if Bruno's condition changes in any way or indeed if you would like to talk things over with me further.

Regards,

Dr. Scott
